I provide electrical installation, repair, inspection, testing, and maintenance services. Work is normally carried out by me; however, I reserve the right to use suitably qualified and competent subcontractors where necessary. All work, whether carried out by me or by subcontractors, will be completed in accordance with applicable UK regulations and standards in force at the time of work. I remain responsible for the overall delivery of the services.
4.1 Estimates — Estimates are non-binding and based on information available at the time of assessment. Estimates are valid for 30 days from the date of issue and may be subject to change if the scope of work changes or unforeseen issues arise.
4.2 Quotations — Fixed-price quotations are based solely on the agreed scope of work. Any variation, unforeseen complication, or additional requirement will be charged in addition to the original quotation.
4.3 Acceptance — Acceptance of an estimate or quotation (whether verbally, in writing, or by instructing work to proceed) constitutes acceptance of these Terms and forms a binding contract.
5.1 Extra Work — Any work required outside the agreed scope will be treated as additional work and charged accordingly.
5.2 Approval — No additional work will be carried out without your prior approval. Once approved, additional work will be considered an amendment to the original contract.
6.1 Payment Terms — Payment is due immediately upon completion of the work, unless otherwise agreed in writing. For larger projects, a deposit or staged payments may be required and will be stated in advance.
6.2 Payment Methods — Payment is accepted by bank transfer, cash, or card payment. Card payments are subject to a processing fee of 1.5% plus £0.20 per transaction, reflecting the charge applied by the payment provider. This fee will be added to the invoice total where card payment is used.
6.3 Late Payments — If payment is not received when due, I reserve the right to charge interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, and to recover reasonable debt-recovery costs.
6.4 Non-Payment — I reserve the right to withhold certificates, documentation, or any further services until full payment has been received.
7.1 Timeframes — Any completion dates provided are estimates only. I am not liable for delays caused by factors beyond my control, including supply issues, weather conditions, access problems, or unforeseen technical complications.
7.2 Access — You agree to provide safe, clear, and timely access to the premises or vessel at the agreed times, including accurate and up-to-date location details. Failure to provide access may result in charges for wasted time or additional visits.
8.1 Cancellation by You
8.2 Cancellation by Me — If I cancel the work, any deposit paid will be refunded in full.
9.1 Limitation of Liability — My total liability for any claim arising from the work carried out shall be limited to the value of the contract. I am not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of income, profit, or business opportunity.
9.2 Workmanship Guarantee — All workmanship is guaranteed for six (6) months from the date of completion. This guarantee does not cover defects caused by misuse, fair wear and tear, third-party interference, existing installations, or factors beyond my control.
9.3 Existing Installations — I am not responsible for faults or defects in existing electrical systems that become apparent during or after my work.
10.1 Invoice Queries — All queries or disputes relating to an invoice must be raised within five (5) days of receipt. After this period, the invoice shall be deemed accepted.
10.2 Goods Supplied — Risk and Ownership — Risk in any goods supplied passes to the customer upon delivery. However, legal and beneficial ownership of the goods shall not pass to the customer until full payment has been received in cleared funds.
Relevant certificates, test results, and documentation will be retained for a minimum of 12 months from the date of completion and provided where legally required.
I hold appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Proof of insurance is available upon request. See the Insurance Summary below for current cover.
Personal data is handled responsibly and in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.
I reserve the right to amend these Terms. The version in force at the time work is instructed shall apply.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Where work is carried out on boats, narrowboats, or other vessels (whether moored or underway), the customer confirms that the vessel is safely accessible, adequately ventilated, and structurally sound for electrical work.
I am not responsible for defects, failures, or safety issues arising from existing wiring, previous modifications, corrosion, vibration damage, moisture ingress, or systems not installed by me. No guarantee is given that existing systems will comply with modern standards unless specifically agreed in writing.
The customer is responsible for ensuring accurate location details and access at the agreed time. Failure to do so may result in charges for wasted time or additional visits.
